Chamberlin (b) introduced Saphobranchia for Stylarioides longisetosus von Marenzeller, ; however, he overlooked the revision by Haase () who had established Diplocirrus, including this species into his generic definition. Thus, Saphobranchia is a junior synonym of Diplocirrus. Chemical investigations on the Dongsha Atoll soft coral Lobophytum crassum led to the purification of a new seco-cembranoid, secocrassumol. The structural elucidation was established by extensive NMR, HRESIMS and CD data. The absolute configuration at C was determined as S using a modified Mosher’s acylation. Secocrassumol differs from previously known marine seco-cembranoid in that it.   The situation is equally unclear when considering the genus-level classification. In my sections, however, I find in a species of Lobophytum collected by Dr. Willey more than 40 siphono- zooids to each autozooid ; and, judging from the descriptions of Moseley, as well as from my own sections of the genus Sarcophytum, there must be in some parts of the colony at least as many as 25 siphonozooids to each autozooid.

The last genus, Sinularia, contains well over 50 species and they have commons such as Scalloped Leather Corals, Finger Leather Coral, Cabbage Leather Coral, and Knobby Leather Coral. These photosynthetic soft corals, have irregular shaped growth with a sparse covering of short polyps or may have upward extending finger-like extensions covered.   Potential Natural Product Antifoulants. Of the five NPAs isolated during the present investigation, the sesquiterpene (l’E,5′E)(2′,6′-dimethylocta-l’,5′,7′-trienyl)furoic acid 1 is isolated from Sinularia kavarattiensis for the first time. Incidentally, this also is the first report on the antifouling properties of 1 against barnacle cyprids.
